The Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome (MTSS) or Shin Splint involves lower leg pain along the inner edge of shinbone affected during physical activity (repeated stress) i.e., sports person/ runners under training (13-17%); military persons under training (nearly 8%); aerobic dancers (22% chances) and; high school age runners (~13%) and chances further increases if accompanied with progressive flattening of feet. Sudden increase in physical activity; Middle aged men playing high impact sports on weekends; running on uneven terrain; improper footwear or worn out shoes; excessive pronation induced tightening of calf muscles; smoking; low fitness level; stress fractures in high heeler women; inward movement of ankle causes shin splint pains. Foot orthotics like Arch Support and Insoles etc are recommended to manage the bio-mechanical irregularities along with proper fit foot-wears.
The tail bone (coccyx) is a small area at the bottom of our spine above the buttocks which stabilizes our muscles, tendons and ligaments while sitting. If it gets injured due to trauma, falls, bruise, fracturing or dislocation, with ageing, overweight; occupational hazard of long period sitting on hard surfaces, the tail bone really hurts. In last trimester of pregnancy, ligaments loosen to make room for baby causing tail bone to undergo stress or pain. This is the reason such pains are more observed in case of women (x 5 times) then men. One may feel soreness while using bathroom or having sex and women may feel discomfort in that area during their periods. Standing and walking can reduce pressure however leaning without support increases pressure. It should be diagnosed clinically to understand its cause and prescribed medicines by the Physician should be taken regularly. It is widely accepted that healing process is slow and pain might subside if there are some lifestyle changes especially in sitting position. One needs to sit with his back against the chair to keep the spine neutral and feet flat on the floor to transfer weight off from the tail bone to feet towards earth’s gravity. One of the universally accepted lifestyle change recommended by most of the Physicians or orthopaedic specialists is to use Coccyx seat cushions (seat cushions with cut out section in tailbone area).
If someone is confined to wheel chair due to accidental injuries or by birth, his / her life require multiple interventions. One of the critical aspects is tiredness due to continuous sitting which might cause pressure sores. Thus, technological interface provide adequate relief in prevention of occurrence of such problems.
Proper diet and moderate exercise schedule for morbid patients is essential to keep them abreast with normal persons. Schedule also accounts for Physiotherapy to avoid impact of morbidity of one limb on the other limbs. However, still the impact of prolonged sitting in terms of pressure sores will be present. To manage such impact on various parts of the body, C3I Gel Technology provides viable solution of extreme elastomerism (preventing no pressure sore build up) coupled with viable cushioning & comfort care. Persons bound to wheel chair should use Seat Cushions for Wheel Chairs (it prevents build up pressure sores) in conjunction with back rest (to provide necessary support to spine). If such patients drive modified vehicles, it is recommended to get their car seats modified with Medigel sheets or alternatively use Car Seat Cushions too. If the morbid patient is old and his/ her skin is fragile, Toilet Seat Cushion is also recommended.
Wrist pain is often caused by sprains or fractures from sudden injuries but wrist pain can also result from long-term problems, such as repetitive stress, arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome.
Not all wrist pain require medical care. Minor sprains and strains usually respond to ice, rest and over-the-counter pain medications. But if pain and swelling last longer than few days or become worse, see your doctor. Delayed diagnosis and treatment can lead to poor healing, reduced range of motion and long-term disability.
Risk factors include sudden impact, repetitive stress, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, Carpal tunnel syndrome, Ganglion cysts, Kienbonck’s disease, participation in sports activities, repetitive work like cutting hair, pregnancy, diabetes, gout and obesity. All these conditions may triggeri wrist pain or worsen existing pains due to combination of two factors.
Intense Hand Exerciser are available in radish, egg and spherical shape with soft and hard version. 10 min exercise schedule, twice a day using radish, egg and then spherical gel ball is recommended.
