The fissures (gaps) in heel region causing extreme discomfort and even pain are referred as cracked heels. The drying of skin leads to thickening of skin, formation of calluses requiring proper care.
It includs following steps:
Extreme dryness, Athlete's foot, psoriasis, eczema, thyroid disease, diabetes and obesity (fat induced pressure) leads to opening of skin as cracks or heel fissures.
Listerine is often used to remove dead skin. Anti-microbial creams are also used to inhibit microbial growth at cracked sites. Moisturizing treatments in the form of creams, lotions, and ointments prevent drying up of skin. Emollients penetrate the skin and reduce water loss. Once the emollient or humectant is absorbed, people can apply a thick layer of an occlusive moisturizer over the top just before bed to seal the moisture in. Use of cotton breathable socks in bed. Salicylic acid (or similar keratolytics) is often used for thinning of cracks. Rub with pumice stone to remove dead skin. Use of cushioning orthotics will prevent aggravation of the cracks. Avoid harsh soaps or scented skin products as well as wear closed-heeled shoes.
Heel Cup with its natural cover at the edge provides extreme cushioning while Heel Care Socks provides cushioning and extra protection as strapped over the ankle of the foot. Cokum Foot Cream is recommended to act as barrier and moisturizer cream to prevent drying up of skin.
A cold foot is natural reaction of limb of our body in which blood vessels of extremities will constrict. If the foot is getting colder without entering into colder area, it refers to peripheral artery disease (attributed to poor circulation) and even happens in diabetics too. Research reports indicated that there is high probability of catching viruses or getting common cold if you have chilly feet. It is recommended to keep your foot warmer and use gel bed to enhance blood circulation attributing towards elastomeric cushioning.
Besides helping you fall asleep faster, sleeping with socks on provides various health benefits, including: The warmth contained by the socks helps your body thermoregulate while you sleep, staving off night sweats or hot flashes. The temperature regulation assist from wearing socks helps prevent a Raynaud's attack.
Foot warmer with underlying gel layer is an extremely good choice for management of cold feet. The elastomeric gel induces increase in blood circulation while woolen part keeps it warm. Cokum Foot cream is also recommended to perform foot massage enhancing circulation.
The pain in cervical spine, a delicate and strong neck area (complex & intricate construct) that allows movement of head in all directions, progressive towards upper back (thoracic spine) attributed towards degenerative tissues; herniated disc; stenosis; osteoarthritis or simply muscle strain (stiff neck) along with arm pain.
The neck pain that radiates or shoots into the shoulder, arm and upper back associated with headache. A reduced range of motion of neck often referred as stiff neck (muscular tightness) is also observed. The numbness and tingling in upper extremities with weakness and slower reflex action in upper limbs are common symptoms of cervical problems.
The muscle sprain or strain in facet joints is generally self-limiting. However degenerative cervical discs is progressive with protruding & bulging disc or if severe prolapse requiring specific interventions. In both cases cervical pillows and back rest are recommended orthotics. If there is an acute injury or spinal stenosis leading to narrowing of the spinal cord, specific interventions are required.
Heavy Lifting might induce micro trauma, weakening of tissues leading to stiff neck with increase in pain in progressive manner. Such stages require specific medical interventions. Stiff neck is due to tightening of muscle as generally the third joint supporting such neck structure is degenerative or affected. It is recommended to avoid such occupations and rest on cervical pillows & spinal overlays. Osteophytes induced irritation might lead to Spondylosis /Cervical radiculopathy (shooting pains). Such bony overgrowth links with resting alignment issues too, appropriate therapy is advisable. Under the supervision of expert, specific positional alignment while resting is suggested. In all above cases, appropriate spinal exercise under supervision of Physiotherapist is recommended
The treatment should be cause- based and probability of becoming chronic is 10% while rest can be resolved in one year span. Conservative treatment including heat/ cold therapy; body mechanics management (foot orthotics); resting on support; ergonomic reform and; physical therapy can be used initially. Exercise along with joint mobilization or manipulation or low level laser therapy is often recommended. Combination of muscle relaxants and pain killers relieves it from pain. The pinched nerves or herniated discs require active orthotics supports too but no surgery. However cancerous cases require surgical interventions. In all the cases, Spinal Overlays (placed on branded spinal mattresses) provides additional elastomeric cushioning while maintaining spinal cord aligned while sleeping; Cervical Pillows provide support to neck joints relieving it from pains caused by muscle strains and; Back Rest provide adequate support to spinal cord while long sitting occupations or otherwise during normal day-to-day activities.
The body alignment starts from foot, preventing their arch to fall inside by using arch supported foot orthotics. Such orthotics align spine in complete day schedule thereby self limiting the disease itself to great extent. Progressive injuries require clinical interventions supported by physician recommended orthotics. High Performance Insole with its unique structural design, specialized fabric cover position your foot in neutral gait. This is best option to be used in combination with Car seat cushion in case you are driving car to prevent vibrational impact. Alternatively, in case your footwear is narrow from front, use Medial Arch Insole.

A painful hard cone shaped inflamed skin bump (keratinized skin lesion), generally develops on top and side of your toe, in which body’s protective phenomenon tries to protect underlying tissues from friction and pressure injuries is called as corn. It is different from calluses.
Corns are small painful hard cone shaped bumps of skin while Calluses are larger rounded flat skin thickenings, generally painless. The former develops on corner or top of toes while the latter develops at heels or balls of sole region. Both are develop to protect underlying tissues from friction and pressure.
An unwanted pressure in specific region of foot due to altered biomechanics of foot leads to development of such protective skin thickenings (corns and calluses). It has been observed that diabetics with foot neuropathy develops such regions and might get infected, if left untreated. On the other hand, warts and cysts could be other causes. Doctor’s diagnosis is usually to understand the cause and removal of cause with symptomatic care is always recommended.
The soaking of such regions in warm water reduces its size followed by clearing it with pumice stones (however not recommended if a person is diabetic) followed by application of moisturizer. Wearing of wider footwears (big size toe box allowing tow to wiggle up) preventing pressing of such corns on toe regions specifically. Otherwise, use Toe caps to provide artificial cushioning and Toe Spreader to prevent rubbing. Socks should be cotton=polyester blend to keep moisture away. Use of functional orthotics to prevent the cause of unwanted pressure in these regions, thereby alleviates pressure and recurrence of such corns. Salicylic acid drops with applicators are available to manage if self-treatment is not providing appropriate relief. Antibiotic treatment is recommended for infected sites.
Such thickenings are very painful and inflamed and in case of a diabetic person, small injuries are difficult to heal. If self-treatment procedures are failed, doctor’s can trim these thickening by scalpel (self-application of such procedures is strictly prohibited) and application of antibiotics will help. Surgery is rarely required. Artificial cushioned orthotics is recommended for preventing it to become injury to foot.
Massage daily the corn with Cokum foot cream, a blend of essential oils and butters. Cover it with toe cap to prevent any frictional injurt.
